The idea of the SensorDataLab is to provide an infrastructure for e-science applications. In particular, the goal is to provide an infrastructure to

  • provide access to sensor data
    • publish the data within a community and thus share the data
    • provide basic querying and visualization functionality of the measurements
  • provide data processing support
    • the simplest data processing is a query which transforms data
    • other forms of data processing are based on models calculated e.g. in MatLab
    • all processing steps form a tree of processing steps
  • manage and publish meta data of the sensor network in a collaborative way
    • geographical position of the sensors in the building or the landscape
    • information about updates on the sensors or maintenance operations
    • information about observations around the sensors
    • recalibration of sensors
  • provide spatial, temporal and organizational views on the meta data
    • spatial views covers the representation of sensors and sensor data in a map
    • temporal views are representing information in a calendar or a timeline
    • organizational views represent dependencies between different information

We evaluate the ideas and the current development in a localization scenario, where the goal is to determine the position of a person in a building as good as possible. More information about this scenario is available. This effort is in collaboration with the Swiss Experiment. We are recently looking for other interested projects in using our infrastructure for further evaluation.
